Client: Apparel Company
A leading apparel company with a reputation for excellence in product quality, value, operational execution, and the design and marketing of a broad array of products under nationally recognized brands including sportswear, jeanswear, suits, dresses, menswear, shoes, accessories and costume jewelry.
Challenges
- Growth through acquisition challenged the IT organization with supporting a multitude of software configurations and versions residing on workstations across the enterprise, increasing costs.
- System software was outdated and inconsistent among workstations—operating systems and applications weren’t always current and supported, and updates and patches weren’t installed on all machines. Naming conventions were non-standard as well.
- There were no system policies and controls across the enterprise to prevent the storage of non-business-related information on employee desktops (such as music and image files), potentially compromising security and risking possible legal ramifications.
- Compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley legislation was essential in order to be ready for an upcoming organizational audit.
RMK Solution
- Evaluated, upgraded and cleansed 1,500 workstations at three major operations sites to comply with the new enterprisewide standards.
Results
- All workstations in the organization became fully compliant, enabling IT to more effectively and efficiently support the enterprise.
- With less effort dedicated to supporting desktops, IT was able to proactively focus on future business needs.
- Preparation for the Sarbanes-Oxley audit was completed ahead of schedule.
